The Flying Dutchman BLEAK FUTURE
by Nils Visser
1622: Threat of renewed warfare with Spain throws an ominous shadow over the young Dutch republic.
Liselotte Haelen, a physician's daughter, has to cope with other shadows as well, trapped in an unhappy
household as she is. Her prodigal cousin, Peter Haelen, has built a ship like no other but who will crew
her? Folks are superstitious, wary of innovation. Some say Peter has defied the natural order of things.
Wagging tongues claim his ship is cursed ere she's even launched. Other aspects are at play. Echoes from
the past. Realms below the waves. Hidden forces that confound logic, as deep as the ocean and as wide as the sky.
A story 376 years in the making. Inspired by Willem Bontekoe's Journal (1646), German author Philipp Korber
penned Der Fliegende Hollander in 1849. This work inspired Dutch author Piet Visser's De Vliegende Hollander in 1901.
In 2018 Nils Visser started writing The Flying Dutchman BLEAK FUTURE, using elements of his great-grand-uncle
Piet Visser's story, but thoroughly modernizing this origins story of the infamous phantom ship for a contemporary audience.
Korber's and Piet Visser's main protagonist, Peter Haelen, plays a major part, but Nils Visser opted to tell the story
through the eyes of Peter's cousin Liselotte, who only appears very briefly as 'Lotje' in Piet Visser's work, very much
as a damsel in distress. Nils Visser would like to say Liselotte is his invention, but this renewed character is anything
but a damsel in distress and would probably shoot the author if he tried to claim ownership.
The paperback is beautifully illustrated by Hastings based artist Julie Gorringe. She accepted the challenge to provide an
illustration for each chapter. During the writing process she read each new chapter multiple times before she decided what
she would draw, giving her as much creative freedom as possible within the context of illustrating a story.

When their quest unleashes an ancient king bent on conquest, Charity must adapt and learn to trust her new companions if she hopes to
stop him. If she fails, two worlds will fall with her.

Song and Wind
by B.A. Johnson, Alexis D. Johnson
The Sirens taste our weakness.
They crept in through the cracks of our broken desert nation. While we shed our blood warring against foreign
men, the Sirens hunt with talons sharp, snaring us with their song, feasting on our flesh. They are the hawks among doves...
My name is Medlar, and I am a true Desert Son. I sacrificed everything to free my people and save our way of life,
but it came to nothing.
The war took everything from me. Everything, except my brother.
Now, the foreigners rule my homeland with a cruel fist. My own people betrayed me and I am little more than a dishonored
soldier, destined to the executioner's axe for my crimes.
I have but one chance to redeem myself - defend my enemies against the Sirens. Can I bring myself to protect the very
people that murdered my father and burned my home to ash? Or do I let the monstrous creatures devour them as the war
did my soul...

The Telepathy Office
by Keith Gell
The vast Metropolis, a city inhabited by goblins, is in the throes of an industrial revolution forged in magic.
Manna, magical energy captured in physical form, fuels its factories that produce artefacts, to be traded across
the galaxy. Wizards are the new elite. They use their magical skill to amass great wealth, and in turn, political power.
Resentment grows among the mundane goblin proletariat. Magic impacts every aspect of goblin life, used to communicate by
telepathy, control weather, and heal the sick. But alongside the benefits come risks: Mutation from manna pollution, and
magical diseases of vampirism and lycanthropy.
But the biggest threat of all is demonic invasion. Vampires steal a book to summon a demon. Infernal manna finds its way onto
the market place, with awful consequences. Grand Master Pharaoh Henry must recruit a team of demon hunters to stop a full-scale
invasion from Hell.
But Henry is a dangerous fanatic, and those who work for him end up dead, or worse. No right-minded wizard would risk death,
or losing his soul, so he recruits who he can: A drug addicted augurist, a dishonoured ork, a cowardly policeman, a fugitive
vampire, and a vain fashionista who shares her mind with a demon.
Against the backdrop of armed revolution, they investigate a Satanic plot, to prevent the opening of a gate to Hell itself.
